Because they did not contact me, I contacted them 3 times with the information I wanted on my dog tag before Amazon alerted me that my order had been shipped out. I received my oder the first time, and it was wrong. They sent me the incorrect shaped tag (they sent me a 'dog head' shape when I asked for a 'bronze colored circle shape'). Also at this time I became aware that this dog id tag doesn't come with a metal hoop or any sort of sturdy attachment with which to fasten it to the dog's collar - they give you a 'necklace' type item - just like what one uses as a fan or lamp pulley chain. I was pretty irritated by all of this, considering the stupid thing costs almost $10 with shipping, so I left a scathing review of the seller. Within about a week or so, the seller contacted me saying they were so sorry and their computers were down and some other jargon while promising to send me a corrected dog id tag free of charge. About two weeks later, my 'corrected' tag got here - but now it was the wrong color (which I was past caring about at this point) and inscribed with the wrong address! So now I have two useless dog id tags, one that is too big, awkwardly printed, and stupid looking (the dog shaped tag) and one that is totally useless due to it having incorrect information on it. RUN AWAY FROM THIS ITEM. RUN AWAY FROM THIS SELLER. RUN.

However, in little over a month my puppy managed to chew it beyond recognition. The letters are no longer readable and I'm going to have to order a new tag. This time I'll go for a metal one.

These tags are very solid and looks like they will last long. The colors are very bright, just like on picture; the engraving is on the other side and is very deep which means it won't wear out and fade too soon. The tags came in less than a week. Very glad with the purchase.

(More customer reviews)The quality of this collar/tag combination set isn't what I'd hoped for. First, the tag connects to the collar with velcro-like tape. I'd expected it to be more securely mounted. Second, the dye from the collar (I got the bright pink one) bled onto my dog's white fur when we played in the sprinkler. My dog now has a lovely pink ruff which hasn't faded even with a bath. After the pink neck accident, I tried soaking the collar in warm water. The collar was still releasing dye and tinting the water pink after six water changes and an overnight soak.
Aside from these complaints, it did work as a collar.

$9.95 only gets you the metal tag. In VERY fine print there is a $1.95 activation fee. The service is "free" for only 30 days, but you don't find out the following until AFTER you buy: "Free 1 Month Plan is only available with a 1 year paid subscription". The VERY fine print says it is $9.95 annually after that (but that's not entirely true because that's not the full offer).
After you buy and you register online -- step 3 of 5 lets you choose a one year plan ("standard plan" is $9.95 or longer period for more money) or a "platinum plan" which is $24.95 for one year (or more $ for longer periods). The package the tag comes in says the eAlert service will email and fax your vet, but when you register -- step 3 of 5 shows a chart comparing the plans and it appears you need the "platinum plan" for the service to contact local vets (basic plan only contacts "shelters and rescues"). The Platinum Plan also provides "online alert to 50,000 local neighbors*" but the asterisk says "*SmartTag utilizes Facebook ads to post lost pet alerts to 50,000 local residents". They're not actually contacting that many people.
The marketing is misleading. By the time I read all the terms and fine-print nuances of the offers (disclosed AFTER purchasing the tag) I was totally turned off about the lack of up-front transparency. I felt like a fish on a hook and don't trust the people who market this service. I spit the hook out and didn't sign up for any plan, and returned the tag to the local PetSmart where I bought it.

Flexi PC Pet ID Tag Review

(More customer reviews)I got this because it looks to be a well designed product that I can use to provide an extra measure of safety for my dog Telstar, who is a bit of a nut and a gifted escape artist. I checked out a few of these and this looks to be the best made one out there short of making my own (I am a certified computer geek and hot rod guy, so I could do this if there wasn't one this nice out there...) However, upon receiving the item, I noticed a few points of concern:
1) The documents are all in Word format(.doc). Since I don't want to assume that someone who finds my dog has Word (yes, I know about Wordpad, but this still bugs me), I put a couple of notepad documents (.txt) with my info on them into the tag as well so as to maximize format compatibility options for anyone who might find this.
I also put my information in the tag in Spanish -titled "espanol"; in case my dog is found by a Spanish-speaking person, which is a distinct possibility in my area. If you don't speak Spanish (or need to translate into another language) visit [...], copy and paste your text into the translation box, then copy the translated text into a new document in the tag. Be sure to title this translated document "espanol" (or whatever language name applies) preferably in the native text of the language. I know that this may sound like a lot of effort for this step, but it does no good to translate the text and then give it an English title if the person who finds the tag doesn't understand the title. Anyway, I digress...
2) The split ring attached to the tag is junk. My dog is crazy and strong, and his favorite playmate is our pit-mix ruby, who is also very strong and likes to grab the tag end of Telstar's collar in her mouth. Translation: if I were dumb enough to trust this crap split ring to keep the tag attached to my dog's collar, it'd be lost in the yard in about 2 days. You can get a much better quality split ring at a hardware store for less than a buck that will keep the tag from being lost after the first couple of times it is subjected to the stress of being attached to a dog collar. Which is what I did...
3) Although the cap of the tag is screw-on and is sealed with an o-ring -which is great, the led in the bottom of the tag appears to be unsealed, which potentially negates any waterproofing conveyed by the cap. I'm going to seal this spot with a dab of silicone so that water can't sneak in through the back, as it were...
One last thing: I removed all but the most essential documents from the tag -the more cluttered the file list is, the more confused (and less likely to read them) the person who finds and plugs this tag in is likely to be. I'm keeping it simple by reducing the document count to a bare minimum needed to make effective use of this awesome product. Anyway, if you're willing to tweak it a bit for best performance, this is a great option for keeping your beloved family member safe -remember that unlike a microchip, this tag can be read by anyone with access to a computer with USB port...

The metal buckle is very nice. I didnt want a cheap plastic one that could break. The material is a little thin, but its not that big a deal. The dogs seem to enjoy wearing them. We have six colors to choose from in the small bone: pink, red, purple, blue, orange and gold. We also have Hydrants, Circles, Rosettes, Stop Signs, Hearts, Luggage Tags and Military ID shapes available in a variety of colors. We recommend no more than two lines per side for best clarity. (More customer reviews)This dog tag is adorable! I got the PINK BUTTERFLY for my little Miniature Dachshund, Layla. The enamel is bright and pretty and the engraving is clear/defined. I ordered the SMALL (perfect size for our little 8lb dog) and only put her name and our phone #, but there is room for another line as the seller indicated in the description. BUT, I think that depends on the length of the dogs name- as the longer the name then the seller will have to drop lower on the tag to allow for more spaces. Or engrave in a smaller text. Our Layla's name fit perfectly to allow plenty of room for the phone # and probably a second #. I will be ordering other tags now that I've seen the QUALITY of these tags!!
