Often these clear, rubbery little earring backs are more comfortable than the metal clutches generally found on post earrings; frequently they hold more securely since they don't stretch like butterfly clutches do in time. They're a boon to anyone with a sensitivity/allergy to base metals (like me!) used in costume jewelry and the nickel alloy often used to cut precious metals.
These are also useful to anyone who makes dollhouse miniatures (can be used as knobs on dollhouse doors, furniture, kitchen or bathroom faucets; mini vases; possible dollhouse drinking cups -- and other dollhouse decorative what-have-you -- let your imagination soar, 'cos there's plenty in this package to play with!) But keep them away from the kiddies. Possible choke hazard, since little ones put EVERYTHING in their mouths.
I bought these diminuative safety earring backs for the aforementioned two uses: Earring backs (as intended by the manufactor) and dollhouse miniatures, making this a great purchase with multiple uses.
These can be difficult to find. When earring safety backs are available in stores or through mail-order catalogs, a much smaller and more expensive package is offered; usually 3 to 6 pairs per package at pain producing prices.
This is a wise purchase, giving lots to share with friends & family, and to use for miniatures (if you are so inclined). These earring safety backs make unexpected and appreciated little gifts: Use as stocking stuffers, as hostess gift, and let's not forget that they can be used as a replacement for that easily dropped and easily lost butterfly clutch. (They disappear down the bathroom drain so readily!)
Very useful and economical for those who make earrings for personal use, to sell, or give as gifts.
With a package of 100 earring safety backs, how can you go wrong? Buy these and save yourself the annoyance of single, partnerless earrings -- they can't all be made into pendants!
