The 'clay' was soft (like Play-dough) & easy to roll out, which was great considering it took 5 tries to get a decent hand print thanks to a squirming child. Be sure your child's hand is clean otherwise it will leave little bits of whatever in the mold.
The major problem I had with this was the piece of plastic you're supposed to use as a cutting ring. It is a single strand of plastic with adhesive on one end so you can make the size right for you, however it comes folded up in the package. when you try to make it into a circle, it's impossible to have rounded edges and therefore you end up with an odd shape. On the one hand, it's kind of cute this was as it looks more like a child's craft but on the other, it's not going to produce a perfect circle.
The instructions are easy to follow but read them all the way through before starting (I almost forgot to punch a hole with the enclosed straw to string the ribbon through). It comes with white, blue and pink ribbon, so you can customize it for your child. After two days in the closet, it hardened perfectly and was a great gift for Mom!
