The back of them where the nail goes has the circular opening and "slider" along it so that you can have the letters hang at an angle, and you just slide them over to hang straight. The only problem with the "J" that I have is that it doesn't hang completely straight; the nail can't slide over far enough. I'd have to cut it farther. This is also makes it a little difficult with the spacing of the nails because you're going to slide them over once they're on the wall. Overall, I like that they aren't the really large letters.
